Richard founded TOP Venture in 2013 and is responsible for all direct investment activity as well as the firm’s venture capital fund allocations. Four years after launching TOP Venture, he introduced TOP-VC, a highly concentrated fund-of-funds focused on best-in-class venture capital firms. To date, he has led the deployment of approximately $1.5 billion in equity across the TOP family of funds.

Before TOP, Richard was an active direct investor in both early and late-stage technology companies. He joined Index Ventures in 2001, serving as a partner in the life sciences practice. Earlier in his career, he built Europe’s largest specialty pharmacy, MediService, which was acquired by Galenica (GALE.SW). Richard also worked at McKinsey & Co. in Zurich. He earned dual BAs in Economics and History as well as an MA in International Policy Studies from Stanford University.
